Today, I bring you the first single from my forthcoming album: the song that conceptually sparked the Pink Stone collection.
I wrote it during a time of much personal difficulty, when I felt completely worn out and shattered by the life path I had long been following. The song came to me like a spell from the river, and the melody played through me over the years that followed, as my life slowly transformed, and the waters of health and vitality slowly began to trickle back.
Especially in the times we now find ourselves, I hope this song and video can offer a touchstone of wild water and simple harmony for any who need restoration for the journey ahead.
All my thanks to David Weber at Airtime Recording Studios for his amazing production work, Gary Stroutsos for contributing the flute, Ben Lumsdaine for his work on cajon, Anna Briggs for the beautiful artwork (follow her on Instagram for a regular infusion of soulful illustration!), Karla Holman for the lovely design work, 4Culture for the Art Projects Grant, and the 118+ Kickstarter backers who made it all possible!
“Come Back River” is the first single from my forthcoming album PINK STONE: SONGS FROM MOOSE LODGE, a collection of songs written over the course of several years in Washington’s Methow Valley, traditional territory of the mətxʷú people.
